The 'state of play' for coral reefs of CARICOM nations
The coral reef nations of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) share the challenges of sustainable development in a changing climate, and all know the importance of coral reefs to their future. While these countries also share much in terms of culture and environment, each has a unique history and sense of identify that has influenced the condition of their reefs, the ways their reefs are used and their approaches to management.
Under the Australia Caribbean Coral Reef Collaboration we have compiled the latest information to provide a coral reefs overview for CARICOM nations. These overviews provide a national-level snapshot of:
· reef resources, including recreational and commercial reef uses
· climate change threats
· opportunities to build adaptive capacity
· reef management
· overall reef health
